ありますarimasu	to be, to exist, for things (inanimate)
つくえの うえに ほんが あります。Tsukue no ue ni hon ga arimasu.There is (exists) a book on the desk.
いますimasu	to exist, be, for people and animals (animate)
へやにともだちがいます。Heya ni tomodachi ga imasu.There is (exists) a friend in the room.
いろいろなiroiro na	Various kinds of (before a noun; = the same word, which appears without な in L20)
みせに いろいろなのみものが あります。Mise ni iroiro na nomimono ga arimasu.The shop has all kinds of drinks.
おとこのひと男の人otoko no hito	man
みせの まえに おとこの ひとが います。Mise no mae ni otoko no hito ga imasu.There is a man in front of the shop.
おんなのひと女の人onna no hito	woman
あそこに おんなの ひとが います。Asoko ni onna no hito ga imasu.There is a woman over there.
おとこのこ男の子otoko no ko	boy
くるまの なかに おとこの こが います。Kuruma no naka ni otoko no ko ga imasu.There is a boy inside the car.
おんなのこ女の子onna no ko	girl
こうえんに おんなの こが います。Kouen ni onna no ko ga imasu.There is a girl in the park.
いぬ犬inu	dog
こうえんにいぬがいます。Kouen ni inu ga imasu.There's a dog in the park.
ねこneko	cat
うちにねこがいます。Uchi ni neko ga imasu.I have a cat at home.
パンダpanda	panda
あそこにパンダがいます。Asoko ni panda ga imasu.There is a panda over there.
ぞうzou	elephant
ぞうは おおきいです。Zou wa ookii desu.Elephants are big.
き木ki	tree, wood
こうえんにおおきいきがあります。Kouen ni ookii ki ga arimasu.There is a big tree in the park.
もの物mono	thing
これはたかいものです。Kore wa takai mono desu.This is an expensive thing.
でんちdenchi	battery
つくえの うえに でんちが あります。Tsukue no ue ni denchi ga arimasu.There are batteries on the desk.
はこhako	box
はこの なかに しゃしんが あります。Hako no naka ni shashin ga arimasu.There are photos inside the box.
スイッチsuitchi	switch
スイッチは ドアの ちかくに あります。Suitchi wa doa no chikaku ni arimasu.The switch is near the door.
れいぞうこreizouko	refrigerator
れいぞうこの なかに ぎゅうにゅうが あります。Reizouko no naka ni gyuunyuu ga arimasu.There is milk in the refrigerator.
テーブルteeburu	table
テーブルの うえに はなが あります。Teeburu no ue ni hana ga arimasu.There are flowers on the table.
ベッドbeddo	bed
ベッドの したに かばんが あります。Beddo no shita ni kaban ga arimasu.There is a bag under the bed.
たなtana	shelf
ほんは たなに あります。Hon wa tana ni arimasu.The books are on the shelf.
ドアdoa	door
ドアの うしろに なにが ありますか。Doa no ushiro ni nani ga arimasu ka.What is behind the door?
まどmado	window
まどの ちかくに テーブルが あります。Mado no chikaku ni teeburu ga arimasu.There is a table near the window.
ポストposuto	postbox, mailbox
ポストは えきの まえに あります。Posuto wa eki no mae ni arimasu.The mailbox is in front of the station.
ビルbiru	Modern building, office block
あのビルの なかに ぎんこうが あります。Ano biru no naka ni ginkou ga arimasu.There is a bank inside that building.
エーティーエムee tii emu	cash machine, ATM (Automatic Teller Machine)
ATMはどこにありますか。ATM wa doko ni arimasu ka.Where is there an ATM?
コンビニkonbini	convenience store
えきのまえにコンビニがあります。Eki no mae ni konbini ga arimasu.There's a convenience store in front of the station.
こうえん公園kouen	park
こうえんで しゃしんを とります。Kouen de shashin wo torimasu.I take photos in the park.
きっさてんkissaten	cafe, coffee shop
きっさてんでコーヒーをのみます。Kissaten de koohii wo nomimasu.I drink coffee in the cafeteria.

ほんやで ざっしを かいます。Hon'ya de zasshi wo kaimasu.I buy a magazine at the book shop.

けんken	prefecture
ながのけんに やまが たくさんあります。Nagano ken ni yama ga takusan arimasu.There are many mountains in Nagano prefecture.
うえ上ue	on, above, over
つくえのうえにほんがあります。Tsukue no ue ni hon ga arimasu.There is a book on the desk.
した下shita	under, below, beneath
いすのしたになにかあります。Isu no shita ni nanika arimasu.There's something under the chair.
まえ前mae	front, before
がっこうのまえにこうえんがあります。Gakkou no mae ni kouen ga arimasu.There is a park in front of the school.
うしろ後ろushiro	back, behind
ぎんこうのうしろにこうえんがあります。Ginkou no ushiro ni kouen ga arimasu.There's a park behind the bank.
みぎ右migi	right [side]
みぎにコンビニがあります。Migi ni konbini ga arimasu.To the right is a convenience store.
ひだり左hidari	left [side]
えきのひだりにほんやがあります。Eki no hidari ni honya ga arimasu.To the left of the station there is a bookstore.
なか中naka	in, inside
かばんのなかになにがありますか。Kaban no naka ni nani ga arimasu ka.What's inside the bag?
そと外soto	outside
そとに だれが いますか。Soto ni dare ga imasu ka.Who is outside?
となり隣tonari	next, next door
ぎんこうのとなりにゆうびんきょくがあります。Ginkou no tonari ni yuubinkyoku ga arimasu.The post office is next to the bank.
ちかく近くchikaku	near, vicinity
えきのちかくにデパートがあります。Eki no chikaku ni depaato ga arimasu.There's a department store near the station.
あいだ間aida	between, among
ぎんこうとゆうびんきょくのあいだにあります。Ginkou to yuubinkyoku no aida ni arimasu.It's between the bank and the post office.
などnado	Et cetera, and so on
みせに こうちゃや コーヒーなどが あります。Mise ni koucha ya koohii nado ga arimasu.The shop has black tea, coffee, and so on.
どうもすみませんdoumo sumimasen	I'm very sorry. / Thank you very much
どうもすみません。いいですよ。Doumo sumimasen. ii desu yo.I'm very sorry. — It's fine.
コーナーkoonaa	Corner, section of a store
のみものの コーナーは あそこです。Nomimono no koonaa wa asoko desu.The drinks corner is over there.
いちばんした一番下ichiban shita	the lowest, the bottom
ほんは いちばんしたの たなに あります。Hon wa ichiban shita no tana ni arimasu.The books are on the bottom shelf.
パンやpanya	bakery
パンやはどこですか。Panya wa doko desu ka.Where is the bakery?
