Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Nihongo Sensei mobile application ("the App"), published by Paul Campos Gil ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. Description of Service

Nihongo Sensei is an educational application for learning Japanese, structured around the Minna no Nihongo Book 1 curriculum (Lessons 1–25, JLPT N5 level). It provides vocabulary drills, kanji and kana study tools, grammar reference, and a spaced-repetition study system. The App is an independent study aid and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by 3A Corporation or any official publisher of Minna no Nihongo.

2. Free and Premium Content

The App offers Lessons 1–2 free of charge. Access to Lessons 3–25 requires an active Premium subscription.

3. Premium Subscription

• Price: €9.99 per year (or the equivalent in your local currency, as shown at checkout), billed annually.
• Billing: Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Auto-renewal: Your subscription automatically renews for the same duration and price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Managing your subscription: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device's Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; you retain Premium access until the end of the period you already paid for.
• Refunds: All payments are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple under its own policies, not by us directly.

4. First 100 Users Promotion

As a launch promotion, the first 100 unique users to qualify (as determined by our verification system at the time of app launch) receive Premium access at no cost, for as long as they keep the same Apple ID associated with their original app installation. This promotion:

• is limited to one grant per Apple ID / App Store account;
• cannot be obtained more than once by deleting and reinstalling the App;
• is offered at our sole discretion and may be modified, limited, or withdrawn at any time before it is granted;
• has no cash value and cannot be exchanged, transferred, or redeemed for money.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the App only for its intended educational purpose, and not to attempt to reverse-engineer, circumvent subscription checks, or interfere with the App's operation or fair use by other users.

6. Intellectual Property

The App's design, code, and original content (including example sentences, the Memory Engine, and UI) are our property. Vocabulary and grammar structures reference the publicly documented Minna no Nihongo curriculum for educational purposes.

7. No Warranty

The App is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will result in any particular learning outcome.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
